THE PERFECT PHOTOGRAPH

Terrace is pleased to present an exhibition by the ETRI collective entitled ‘The Perfect Photograph’. On the 15th of July the four photographers will exhibit their ‘perfect photograph’ in the presence of the public and each other for the first time.

The notion of a perfect photograph is by definition impossible. To attempt it instantly throws up questions about perfection; its aesthetics, its politics and its role in the medium of photography. We hope this quest for the ‘perfect’ in its multiple forms will reveal the diversity of the photographers and what fundamentally preoccupies their practices. Rather than a democratic collaboration this exhibition is competitive. In the spirit of other artistic challenges from Apelles and Zeuxis in Ancient Greece to Lars Von Trier’s ‘The Five Obstructions’, we hope that these individual ideas of perfection may unsettle, provoke and obstruct one another.
